My nearest city and home to the best football team in the world, MOT. It’s my normal go because of the quality of food and drink around and is such a cool place to explore. I’ve explored it multiple times so here are all my recommendations for you.
Food
Pasta - Sarto
Super aesthetic inside and the food is amazing the kitchen is located in the centre of the restaurant so you get a good view of the behind the scenes. I recommend the Fettuccini with pork &'nduja ragu and also the Rigatoni with lamb shoulder ragu, mint & sheep rustler cheese.
Brunch - IF up North
My favourite brunch spot in Leeds, there are three IF locations so the one you need to head to is the one on call lane. Normally there’s a queue at weekends but is well worth the wait. Super nice coffee inside as well which is a must for Brunch.
Other options include: Laynes, The Collective, FINT, Archive
Burgers - Big Buns
Located in Brewery Tap by the train station, it’s not often I go for a beef burger when I’m out as I prefer going for a chicken one. However, the Frenchie from Big Buns was too good not to include. Also, make sure you get their loaded fries and onion rings! May need a few of you to tackle all the food though!
Small Plates - Power, Corruption & Lies
Super nice bar on call lane and if you’re just wanting something small to eat then could not recommend PCL more. It’s beautiful inside, accompanied by small plates like bao buns, edamame, prawns, and gyozas and with some cocktails, you’ll be loving it.
Ramen - House of Fu
One of the most aesthetic spots in Leeds, they also do a really good midweek deal for gyozas and ramen. It’s not exactly a small portion either so you’ll get your money's worth. When I went I also decided to go for the fried chicken bites as well, just in case, I didn’t have enough food already. If you’re also wanting a drink later I’ve heard very good things about the bar and cocktails.
Doughnuts - Doh’hut
Time for a sweet treat recommendation now, not many people know about Doh’hut because it’s just off the main high street. They do a creme brûlée which I’m yet
to try but it sounds insane. I’ve had the strawberry cream one and oh my daysssss, yeah, struggle to eat another but it was delicious.
Kebab - Sqew
If you’re wanting a quick lunch then I recommend Sqew, they have a great lunchtime deal with a meal fries and a drink. It’s not your typical dirty kebab late night out spot, not that I wouldn’t say no to it then at alllll. But you can taste the freshness of all the ingredients, really recommend the pitta and lamb doner.
Out of town - Kerbside Kids, Fat Hippo, Gron
Coffee
La Bottega Milanese
My favourite coffee spot in Leeds, the main one is the one on Bond Court. It’s often busy so if you want a quieter environment then the park square location may be better for you. Park Square is also better if you wanted to work from the cafe. Also, you need to get some Cannoli as well.
Laynes
Great spot just by the train station and perfect if you want to grab and go, sit in or go for some brunch. Probably the busiest spot for coffee in the whole of Leeds though just because of its location and the amount of foot traffic.
92 degrees
If you’re at the top end of town then definitely head to 92 degrees, it’s a popular spot with students and people remote working with plenty of space to sit.
Drinks
Green Room
The newest Rooftop bar to open up and also has Gron (mentioned in my brunch recommendation) doing the food in the kitchen. Think at the moment one of the nicest places to go and enjoy, there’s always a buzz about a new place that’s opened up as well.
Headrow House
A Leeds staple and another rooftop bar (shock), don’t worry though because there are three floors to Headrow House and in the first two you can sit inside and chill.
Other recommendations: PCL, Belgrave, Call Lane Bars
