Power, Corruption and Lies Food Review
I've been seeing this place pop up on quite a few Leeds Foodie's Instagram pages, so knew it was going to be worth a visit. They've also been running 50% off all food and drink for the month of January so couldn't exactly miss out on that!
They're based bottom end of town on call lane and when you walk in
the first thing you notice is the beautiful interiors. As a photographer I love it when I walk into the place and literally everywhere you look is a photo opportunity. The bar is stunning with some really nice exposed brick and wooden panels, the colours in the shot really pop and is one of my favourite images from the day.
I put in a request to be sat next to a window with plenty of space so I could get the best shots possible. As a photographer there's nothing worse than being put into a dark corner with poor lighting. The staff were super friendly and helping so hat's off to them!
Between two of us we got 5 dishes which was the perfect amount. Could have handled 6 but feel would have left in a food coma, whereas 5 I didn't need rolling out the door. This is what we had:
🍽 Edamame Beans with Sea Salt
🍤 Spicy King Prawns - Crispy Sushi Rice & Chives
🍳 Breakfast Katsu Bao - Panko Ham Hock, Soy Egg Yolk, Kewpie Mayo, Tonkatsu
🥓 Korean Pulled Pork Bao - Pork Shoulder, Sweet Vinegar Slaw, Crackling
🥟 Chicken Gyoza - Garlic Butter Chicken, Chilli, Sesame Soy
Personal favourite was the Pulled Pork Bao, the meat was tender and I really loved the sweetness of the slaw. It added something a bit different to bao buns I've had before which meant it really stood out. The other noticeable one was the spicy king prawns, again something different and the right amount of spice. Everything else was still really nice but those two were the stand out mentions.
As I've mentioned they're doing 50% off in January so we got all that food (no drinks just stuck to water) for about £15 which is such a good dealllllll!!!!
Make sure you drop us a follow on Instagram (@cmcg.creative) to see where else I went whilst I was over, I'll be dropping a post on that soon as well.
